DESCRIPTION:A Spring Cleanup volunteer litter pickup event on the Mill Creek Watershed will be held on May 9\, 2026\, in Bellville\, Texas. This event is presented by the Mill Creek Watershed Partnership\, Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service\, and the Texas State Soil and Water Conservation Board.\n\n\n\nThe free event will be held at 2245 FM 2429\, Bellville\, TX\, from 9:00 a.m.-12:00 p.m. and is open to the public.\n\n\n\nCoordinates for the launch site for the event are 29.896694\, -96.254889.\n\n\n\nParticipants must pre-register by visiting the Mill Creek Partnership Website at  millcreek.tamu.edu or by calling 979-321-5921.\n\n\n\n"We invite community members from all backgrounds to join us in cleaning up a portion of Mill Creek. It will be a great opportunity to get outside\, connect with neighbors\, and have a positive impact on local water quality!" said Annalee Epps\, Watershed Coordinator.\n\n\n\nThe public is encouraged to attend and assist in cleaning up bridge sites in the Mill Creek Watershed. Volunteers will be picking up litter and removing tires at the bridge over Mill Creek at FM 2429. There will also be satellite locations where selected volunteers will be deployed after the initial meeting.\n\n\n\nAll Cleanup supplies will be provided\, including trash bags\, trash grabbers\, safety vests\, and gloves. Please wear long pants and closed-toed shoes. Consider wearing a large-brimmed hat and long sleeves to reduce sun exposure.\n\n\n\nThe Mill Creek Watershed Partnership was established by local stakeholders in 2016 as a response to elevated E. coli levels in Mill Creek. Through free educational programs and outreach events\, the partnership seeks to promote the implementation of best management practices by all watershed residents. \n\n\n\nFunding for this effort is provided through a federal Clean Water Act Section 319(h) Nonpoint Source Grant administered by the Texas State Soil and Water Conservation Board from the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency.
